Nigerian Deputy Governor Tests positive For COVID-19
Bauchi State Deputy Governor Baba Tela has tested positive for COVID-19.
This was revealed on Tuesday by Mukhtar Gidado, one of the governor’s media assistants.
And the tests carried out on him by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) after showing visible symptoms of the disease.
According to a statement released yesterday by Governor Bala Mohammed’s senior special assistant, Mr. Mukhtar Gidado, the vice-governor who is also chairman of the state task force on COVID-19 contracted the virus while s ‘discharging its duties.
The statement reads as follows: “It is to inform the general public that His Excellency Senator Baba Tela, Deputy Governor of the State of Bauchi, who is also the chairmain of the State Working Group on COVID- 19, has been confirmed positive for Coronavirus.
“Consequently, His Excellency Senator Baba Tela has isolated himself from Bauchi and health professionals are managing his situation properly.
“Likewise, samples from all of its primary contacts have been taken by the NCDC for testing and they are advised to remain isolated pending the results of their results.”
