Coronavirus K.i.l.l Nigerian Doctor After Helping UK Fight the Pandemic

68 years old Nigerian doctor who came out of retirement to help the UK fight the new coronavirus (Covid-19), has died of the disease.

Reuters describes the late Saadu as “a dedicated doctor who has come out of retirement to help the British National Health Service (NHS)”.

Saadu immigrated to Britain from Nigeria. He remained close to his family and community in Kwara State, in central Nigeria, where he held the traditional title of Galadima from his hometown of Pategi.

He had a long and successful career in NHS hospitals in London and died Tuesday March 31 of a coronavirus for two weeks, according to his son Dani Saadu.

“My father was a living legend, worked for the NHS for almost 40 years, saving the lives of people here and in Africa.

Until he got sick, he was still working part-time to save people, ”said the doctor’s son.

Thousands of retired doctors and nurses in the UK have returned to work in response to a government call to support the NHS.

The NHS suffered from staff shortages before the crisis.

Founded after World War II to provide free health care to all who live in Britain, the NHS and the values it represents are a unifying force in British society.

“Protecting the NHS” has become one of the government’s main messages to the British in a context of national foreclosure.

Kwara State citizens Mourns Saadu aka Galadima

The governor of Kwara, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, is one of the many influential figures who mourn Saadu.

Abdulrazaq says the late doctor has made “enormous contributions” to the public good.

“As a public health expert, he has saved many lives in London as he has done across Africa. He will be greatly missed, ”said the governor.
